Annual exams and screenings are vital to health no matter your age or state of health. In fact, visiting your primary care provider for regular preventive care is one of the best ways to identify and treat health issues before they get worse.
When it comes to health concerns, women are more likely to seek help. Women are also more likely to keep up with annual visits to the doctor. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, men are 24% less likely to visit a doctor for annual checkups!
This may account for the fact that men have a shorter life expectancy than women. Did you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, accounting for 1 out of every 4 deaths? Half of all men who die of coronary heart disease experienced no symptoms, which is why annual screenings are so crucial.
